The moon covered in black. Stars outshined by the city lights from the distance. And the air drops it temperature. Coby sits on a chair he scavenged from the remains of the ruined city, uses the campfire to warm himself, and cook himself dinner with a can of unperishable food. As he opens his mouth to take a bite, his thick breath and the steam of the food collides and dance away in the cold air. Coby swallows his last bite and kicks dirt on the fire until it's buried. He gets up to look at the moon as the clouds passes and reveals its cycle, shattered, and enters his shack.
He makes his way to his bed, closes his eyes and sleep. As he dreams, he sees nothing. But he hears. He could still hear the screams of everyone he was responsible for. Then, one voice, low and calm, said to his ear, "Brother."
Coby springs up from bed and leaps to his Caliber.222 and waves it around. Nothing. "Am I hearing voices outside my mind?" He asks himself. "Or am I finally gone mad?" He lowers his sword and felt a streak on his face. He slowly wipes it to find sweat with his skin burning. He heads back to his bed, but then the voices in his head grew louder.
"We trusted you."
Coby circles around, looking for what's causing his distress. The shadows begins to take shapes. Many resembles to human and faunus and appearing more solid. "Get back," Coby demanded. He points Caliber.222 around as the shadows grow closer and cries out pain and resentment. "Get back!"
The shadows looks at Coby with eyes glowing red. The shadows shapes itself to the Grimm with only lights seen is red from their eyes and mouth. Coby swung wildly at them to no avail, until one flat shadow on the wall, grew and grew in a shape of a familiar human. Coby stares at it as it takes more shapes of each type of Grimm. Then, a voice sounds off from it. "Brother. You killed them, in your selfish attempt to see your mother again."
"Leave me alone, Blut!" Coby screams.
"You are now seen as a criminal. Your friends and fellow people sees you as a pariah."
"You led your teammates to be killed by their own."
"Laura gave her life for nothing."
Coby screams at the top of his lungs, with eyes shut tight, and sweat drops to the floor. Shots fired at the shadow and doesn't stop pulling the trigger, even when the ammo is out. The sounds of the clicking lasted for a few seconds, before he drops his sword and drops to his knees in tears. He opens his eyes and looks at the direction he shot. No shadows were present. No haunting sounds of his mistakes. Just dead silence and the additional holes on the wall. Coby looks down and questions his sanity.
He felt pressure on his right shoulder. A hand. Coby slowly looks up and sees his the sorrowful face of Laura. Coby staggers back and hits the door with his back and looks at Laura. Nothing. Lights coming from the bullet holes shines down on him. He looks at the holes and realizes the sun is up. He stands up and said to himself, "It has been ten years now...it's our anniversary..."
